Chinese Whispers is a book documenting a musical game of Chinese Whispers that I played with six different producers in Scotland. I composed the first track and sent it on to a producer in Edinburgh, he then remixed the track and sent it on to a producer in Glasgow, who remixed the remix and sent it on to yet another producer in Dundee and so on . . . Each producer only got to hear the track they were sent and did not know what the other producers’ music sounded like until the very end. To document the project I asked each participant to fill in a specially designed form and to reuse the same envelope each time. The envelope became a visual representation of each stage of the journey.
